Located in Kinigi sector Musanze district northwestern province, Singita Kwitonda Lodge is one of Rwanda’s most luxurious hotels. The lodge is set to offer first-class services to travelers trekking mountain gorillas in Rwanda’s Volcanoes National park. Singita lodge is owned by Luke Bailes who visit Rwanda in 2011 to trek gorillas in Rwanda’s Volcanoes National park. The construction and opening of the Singita lodge is an achievement for Rwanda that will grow Rwanda’s tourism brand. Singita Kwitonda lodge joins other luxury gorilla trekking lodges in Rwanda such as Bisate Lodge, One and Only Nyungwe House among others. Forest trees, ferns, mountain bamboo, and giant lobelias make a beautiful backdrop of Singita Lodge. Also, all materials used to construct the lodge are locally made with nothing imported. The materials used include volcanic rock, river stone, oven red clay bricks, and hand made ceramic tiles. All these were made by local people in the nearby communities earning them income to improve their standards of living and livelihood. The strategic location of the lodge overlooks Sabyinyo, Gahinga and Muhabura volcanoes.
More so, the lodge’s architecture made up of organic cabin-like structures, light verandas, green roof, and stonewall makes Singita lodge exceptional. The entire interior of Singita lodge was designed with handcrafted details such as woven panels, tiles, and clay feature pots. A network of volcanic rock pathways connects you from the main lodge to the private and self-contained bedroom.
